Super Mario :-)

Hello there! It is 12:52 am, November 20th, and just a couple of minutes ago, i finished my Super Mario! I got the pattern courtesy of a VERY talented crochet wizard, Wolfdreamer. She's absolutely amazing and her instructions are clear and easy to read, it took me 2 days and that's only because i only worked on it at night when i got home. I am super excited, i tried to take some pictures with my phone but it's too dark and my craft room has poor lighting, but tomorrow i will and i will post them, if you are curious as to where to find this awesome pattern here you go! Mario Amigurumi , I made him for my son Ayden who is now 4 and (thank the goddess) completely potty trained now!!! *dance* So i've decided to give him the Mario tomorrow morning, and make the rest of the set to give to him for christmas. He's gonna be super excited. Anywho, i'm off to play some WoW, i will post those pics tomorrow. Good night interwebz.

Frustration

Hi everyone, long time no speakie. I've been busy, moved into a new place, got a puppy, potty trained my son. I have been keeping up with my knitting but i can honestly say that the only knitted project i've completed was a worsted weight pair of socks that i can't find :( I think i get too overly excited about new projects, and i start too many and get overwhelmed.

Right now, I am on a desperate search for a Red riding hood cape knitting pattern with a hood, I recently watched "The company of wolves" , it's an 80's movie, and it's sort of a  different take on the little red riding hood story. Not my favorite movie, but entertaining none the less.  So the main character's grandma makes her this BEAUTIFUL cape with a hood, it was too red though, but i would like to make one for me, i am having a hard time finding a pattern, and since i'm a plus sized girl, it's even harder.  So if anyone out there has ANY idea where i might be able to find a nice pattern, that would be awesome , please comment.

What am i working on right now? I am making a Super mario brother's Wii character Amigurumi for my son I bought the pattern on Etsy, You can see it here Wolley ,a hat for my best friend called Urban jungle which can be found here Urban Jungle  , and a crocheted dog sweater for my best friend's mami's doggie, the video tutorial is here if you're curious  Button crocheted sweater , it is absolutely EASY, and it's actually a lot of fun to make, i'm actually pretty much done with it and i started last night!

In non-knitting related news, i have plans in the near future to have a Gastric Bypass,  which i am really nervous but excited about,  i also joined a Bariatric weight loss center to help me lose the 10lbs that i have to lose before the surgery. I'm horrible at diets, but i think i'm finally gonna give in and do the 1200 calorie a day diet that the weight loss center requires.

Christmas is coming up! and it's project season for me (i know i procrastinated and should have started earlier),  I'm thinking of making my son the entire cast of super mario brothers, i think he would really enjoy that.  As for the rest of my family, i have to start asking what they want, i love making things, so hopefully they want something handmade.

That's it for me for now, Thanks for reading and i should be back soon. Again, if you know of a good hooded cape or cloak pattern, please please please let me know. Thanks in advance!

No worries, for i have returned!

So i have been gone since my last post and i know i promised pictures of the bingo bags i made but in the middle of all the X-mas spirit i completely forgot! not to worry though, next time i see my mother-in-law i will ask her to bring the bag by and i will take some pictures. Both bags came out great! and they were extremely easy to make.

So happy new year to all! i want to say that i made a new year's resolution, but i didn't. I always end up forgetting the same month i make them so i didn't bother, lol.

I have however discovered that i have wonderful (sarcasm) allergy to permanent hair dyes. My hair was purple and red for a while i had bleached it and put the colors in with semi permanent hair dye, but it didn't hurt me at all. After a while my hair started to lose the awesome colors and of course turned a hideous orange, and i don't mean traffic cone orange because that would have been kind of awesome, but it just went back to how it looked when i started bleaching, and of course my natural black roots came in and i was looking hideous. So i decided, let me get some permanent black hair dye and just go back to my natural hair color, i did. and 3 hours later i had seeping wounds on my scalp and i was as itchy as could be. I thought well that sux, i have a pretty bad allergy so i took some claritin and that didn't help in the least. So needless to say i am in a LOT of pain right now. I told myself if it doesn't get any better by friday i will have to go to the doctors and hope they can do something for me. So here's hoping it will go away. Now my hands have begun to itch and ive got little red dots on them. *sigh* i read up on it and it turns out that a LOT of people have an allergy to an ingredient in permanent hair dye called PPD *i forget the scientific name* . That ingredient has been banned in many parts of Europe and the allergies can be so severe that sometimes it can cause death because people can't breathe. It is also very common for people who have dyed their hair for decades to develop an allergy to the ingredient. Sad to say i still have some spots in my hair that look terrible because my hair is long and there wasn't enough dye in the bottle to cover everything, I was going to just chance it and just apply a second bottle but i've decided against it seeing how severe my allergy is already and people say that the allergy could get worse the more you dye your hair. So for now i will just have to deal with people wanting to throw hair dye bottles at me when they see my skunky looking hair, lol. Good thing i wanted to show my gray hair once i get older or else i would have been in big trouble. Growing old gracefully (or semi gracefully) here i come!

Other than that, My best friend is engaged! To a wonderful lady i must add. And i couldn't be happier for them, they look great together! and she treats her wonderfully. Maybe i can get them to let me take some pictures of them to post on here so u guys can see. hehe.

I think that's about it, I haven't been working on any projects since the last bingo bag, but i have purchased a few new patterns that i want to get to work on as soon as my allergy calms down, for now i want to concentrate on getting my house cleaned up some. Thanks for reading, i will be back again soon!

The tale of the bargain...

Okay, So as i might have mentioned before ( i dont remember much right now and i'm too lazy to check), i bought a LOT of yarn on ebay for a relatively low price. Most of it was awesomely packed and didn't have any odor. But the other day i got 2 boxes of yarn and HOLY COW. It smelled like an attic and was covered in dust, so i thought it would be a good idea to unwind it all, wind it back up on my winding machine so they would be neat and not so stretched ( a lot of them were so stretched you could actually see the strands that  made up a 1 strand of the yarn), and then i would be able to wash it and get the smell and the dust off. While i still think it was the best thing to do instead of putting it away with my other clean yarn, it was the worst thing i could have done at the same time. Now, i dont know if it was the dust and i just have a bad case of allergies and my body is trying to fight inflammation or what, but i got really sick, i have a fever, my nose is stuffy, headache, sinuses hurt a little. ugh. Needless to say, i've had to put my projects on hold for now, until i get better. My house looks like a pig sty.  I did  manage to wind about 100 balls of dusty old yarn, but every time i was it and put it on low in the dryer, in a garment bag, it ends up a tangled mess. They say to put them in pantyhose and wash them in it, or in a garment bag, but i don't own any pantyhose, just fishnets and i doubt they would work. So if anyone out there reading this has a better way of washing and drying these yarns, please comment!

Aside from the yarn, the couch where i work is covered in tissues, Tangled messes of washed yarn, and christmas ornaments. lol. I'm a wreck right now. Oh and to top it all off, The Muno i was working on for Ayden got lost somewhere in the mess and when i found it, the stitch marker had fallen off and i have no idea where i was, now i'm gonna have to start all over. I was almost done too. It was looking really really good. Oh well. The holidays are never easy. So on that note, time for me to go, i will be back eventually hopefully with some pictures of the stuff i've made. Night!

Right now? Let me tell you.

Yay! Today i recieved the 4 skeins of recycled sari silk yarn i ordered off of e-bay, as well as my new boye electric yarn ball winder! I'm so absolutely excited! as soon as i got it off my porch i plugged that bad boy in and spun my sari silk yarn into 2 tidy balls.

My review of the Boye electric yarn ball winder? i like it. BUT...
it's good if you wind your skeins into balls, however don't expect to roll big balls on it, i was gonna go crazy and wind all of my caron one pounders into tidy center pull balls so i could fit them in drawers easier, but after a little while the winder started to freak out and the ball fell off the winder. So i recommend that if you are going to wind like a lb or more to get one of the hand powered ones, they come in different sizes and are Waaaay cheaper.
The good side. it DOES an absolutely awesome job at making center pull yarn balls without making them so tight that it stretches the yarn, why don't you want your yarn to stretch? because if you work on a project with the yarn that has been stretched, your project will come out one size and once the yarn goes back to its original state the project will be a different size and that my dear friends, is incredibly annoying. This little gadget is a plus for me.

So i started on some new projects today, because since it's Yule season and i am absolutely broke, people are getting stuff that i actually have supplies to make, and i have TONS of yarn. I am absolute yarn-a-holic, and recently i've been on E-bay  going absolutely nuts purchasing huge lots of yarn. in almost every color. So for my Aunt-in-law, and my wonderful mother-in-law i'm making crocheted bingo bags, i found an awesome pattern through Crochet pattern central, I'm really excited about this project because it's something very useful. I will definitely post pictures when i am done, one of them is going to be "Pittsburgh Penguins" themed (for my aunt-in-law), they are her favorite hockey team. I still don't know what color to make my Mother-in-law's bag but i am sure i will figure it out at some point.

A couple of days ago i purchased these wonderful patterns from one of my favorite etsy shops and I think this is going to be one of the best things i will make this Yule season. The Yo Gabba Gabba crew, sans DJ Lance though. I had already crocheted a Muno for my son a couple of weeks ago but i messed that up royally, what with the color option and i just couldn't get the eye right for some reason, so today i started making Muno for a second time, when i'm done with him i will start with Brobee. I'm so excited about this project because my son absolutely loves YGG, and i know he will go crazy once he has the whole set. i PROMISE to post pictures once i finish them.

Alright that's it for now, See you guys again soon!

Tiny update.

Hi everyone in Cybercraft world. Just posting a tiny update about the project i'm currently working on. It's an Onigiri. Which is a Japanese rice ball. I've always thought they looked so neat so i finally got myself down to it. I found a free onigiri pattern here :
I will post my little Onigiri later. mine won't have a face though, i think they are cute enough on their own. Be back later!
